Oscar wants nothing more than to play soccer with the team from his apartment building, and to play against the team from the building next door. But Fabian, the "captain," picks all the other kids, including the girls, leaving out only Oscar, because - as always - he's too short. It's getting on his nerves! When Oscar's mother suddenly needs to leave, Oscar stays home alone for the first time. Now he can finally prove that he isn't a little kid anymore! He gets himself dressed, makes his own breakfast, even puts the dirty dishes in the dishwasher and feels great as the "boss" at home. He even goes to the bakery by himself. When he meets the neighbor's scary dog along the way, though, he wants nothing more than to turn around. But Oscar gathers his courage - "I can do this!" - and walks boldly right past the dog. What an amazing feeling! Then, when Fabian can't play soccer because he hurt his arm at the game, Oscar finally gets a chance to prove his talents as a soccer player. At the end of the day, he is proud as can be. |
